Becoming a great teacher is not enough to guarantee success in academia. You also need to master a variety of other skills--conducting research, writing grant applications, publishing articles and reports--while pursuing your career goals.
With this in mind, the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and AAL present the Compass Program: an interprofessional, online course with four sessions designed to provide early to mid-career faculty with guidance and understanding about career development, conducting educational research, grantsmanship, and writing for scholarship and publication.
These modules provide a bridge between AAL's teaching and learning programs and those programs designed to foster academic leadership. The Compass Program is applicable to all faculty regardless of position, tenure track, or FTE status.
The Compass Program provides health professions educators the opportunity to interact with colleagues from all disciplines, including medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, allied health, public health, and veterinary medicine. The design of this program provides opportunities for participants to collaborate in working groups across disciplinary lines, and promotes the exchange of ideas and experiences to help improve interprofessional education and cooperation.
Four online sessions are presented live, one each week, and are recorded for those who miss the interactive discussions or want to view them again. During each session, participants can ask questions and share comments verbally as well as through a chat box feature. Assignments are given after each session to enable participants to apply the lessons to their own projects and give and receive feedback.
Group discounts are available for 3 or more faculty attending from the same institution. For details, CONTACT US
