The American Dental Education Association/Academy for Academic Leadership Compass Program for Academic Advancement is an online course that provides early and mid-career faculty with an understanding of the culture of higher education. The Compass Program presents a variety of skills faculty need for career advancement in many institutions—conducting educational research, writing grant applications, publishing articles and reports, and career planning—with the convenience and affordability of distance learning. Compass provides a bridge between AAL's teaching and learning programs and those programs designed to foster academic leadership.
In September-October 2015, four online sessions are presented live, one each week, and are recorded for those who miss the interactive discussions or want to view them again. During each session, participants can ask questions and share comments verbally as well as through a chat box feature. Assignments are completed after each live session to enable participants to apply the lessons to their own projects and give and receive feedback.
The Compass Program provides health professions educators the opportunity to interact with colleagues from all disciplines, including medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, allied health, public health, and veterinary medicine. The design of this program provides opportunities for participants to collaborate across disciplinary lines, and promotes the exchange of ideas and experiences to help improve interprofessional education and cooperation.
Group discounts are available for 3 or more faculty attending from the same institution. For details, CONTACT US
